Me and Car

Every middle class family dreams of getting a car, and my father was crazy about it since my childhood, he tried to buy couple of times but neither did he have enough money nor the real usage of it and my mother me and bro were not for it as it’s a hole in your pocket, all this was when we are studying. Now this time around about 2 years of work and as I see my Dad still talking about buying a second hand car, I felt I should buy one for him and Chandu was also for it, I prepared the chart of all the cars between 3 – 6 Lakhs, every day Rajesh and me used to have discussions on it after our supper, and that day July 31st it was when my Dad was here in Hyderabad, to see the seconds sales of Maruthi, I felt that it is not the place that we should be looking for as we can afford a new one now, I took my Dad straight away to the Hyundai Show room which was just in front of the St.Mary’s College, it was spontaneous, but by this time I had did my homework and know that i10 is the choice, I was nt sure if everyone will like it in the family, the executive took us for a test drive and my Dad liked it, I called my Bro and told him that we are going for i10 and my Dad said the same to my mother, done in 15 minutes we paid 10 K as advance , I told him that we need the car before August 15th as it was my fathers dream to go in Car for Independence day celebrations. I finished the rest in no big time, and we had our car by August 13th mind you that I don’t know to drive the car at that time, I joined the driving school a week back where I was also researching on the cars. Neither my father knows better, so we had a driver who came all the way from Vikarabad. August 15th - Chandu was here , he is the only one in family who knows Car better, tough he is young he learnt driving of both Scooter and Car earlier than me, Dad and Chandu were all set in a blushing Red i10 to Tandur, the day has come and I was more than happy to have seen him go that way, and buying a car at appropriate time , I consider is one of the best decisions that I have made, as I see today we have been couple of trips to Srisailam, Home towns, Vijayawada and we really enjoyed all that, as all three of us love to drive it as long as we can.

I have been on several trips to Vijayawada with Amma and Nanna, this was on Dussera and we did Ayudha puja on the day for our car, been to Warangal with friends for Jack’s Marriage, it was a good drive and on our way we saw an accident helped out the person by calling 108, on our way back we went to NagarjunSagar and it was great to have the other 2 idiots around ( Raghu and Rajesh ), been to Miryalaguda for a friends marriage again, I have been to Vikarabad many a times, went to Srisailam with family and it was awesome experience to be there like that and it was testing time for our driving skills on the ghat, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Some of the glitches, I was taking the car out from gate, gate is relatively small and I was not an expert in reverse gear at the time so when getting that out it got a scratch in front as the car brushed the wall, the bigger ones are made by my Dad , a lorry hit the back part of the car as when signal was given and my dad was slow to start, a bus also brushed through the cars side, Chandu put the car in the canal when it was raining and he could not see the road, we had to get the jockey and employee 5 people with 1k given to them to get that out, initially I thought the damage was more but it was less than what my Dad did for the car…. I ran though a small street dog … but this was really unfortunate incident as I write , it was raining heavily we were on our way to Tandur to pick up my Dad from where we are going to Srisailam, the vision was limited to 10 mts at max, a small street dog suddenly jumped on to the road from nowhere and was about 5 mts from the car, I pulled in all that I can do, changed gears in lightening speed to 2, brought down the car speed, gave as many horn as I can but I ran over the little one … I am so sorry for that but I can do nothing about it..than to confess my mistake this way, and had a learning that not to drive fast when you don’t have the visibility… I apologize to have ended this in a sad note but I would have not been able to write so much if I have started with this one ..

BSBC and Me

Let us think of some fundamental questions. Like why are we born, what do you want to do , when will you be happy ? . Fundamentally everybody wants to be happy during the time frame he lives, its the same desire in me. Now, the next question to answer is when will you be happy ? . Swami Vivekanada in his "Complete Works" says art of hapiness lies in giving give all that you have and dont expect a return, and even if you restarin a day will come when you have to leave all that you possess, so why not give before and live for others. Give and there it ends, share your love not enimity and dont expect a return.. thats some thing I think of and from the same idealism of giving what you have i.e education comes my association with BSBC . Born to serve Backward communities is a social service group with focus on education and employment generation for underprevilaged people from 7th to Undergradute courses. This specific sector is choosen as they are the breadwinners for their families.
My association with BSBC comes from the days it started, way back in 2005 December when four young, dynamic and energitic candidates sitting under the moon light discussed about this idealogy of helping others through education and it was decicded to form a group then and there.  I dont know what was considered in me but I was made President and as you might know all of us had a role to start,  Vijayendar was the then General Secretary, Srisailam to look after Finance and Chandu was Public Administration Officer.  For the past 5 years I was holding the responsibility of President, time and again I tried to hand it over not that I didnt like to work but that new ideas will come and the direction from the group will change, but every body had to settle down professionally in their lifes. Finally I have handed over the reins of BSBC to Satish whoom I think is the right replacement. Now that its all history .. let me tell you what I had tried over the years and what I had learnt from these experiences.

There are some people who consider Service as a priority besides themselves, these are the people that you need to enage them in critical works. Not many consider Social Service as passion they are superfically touched and the real challenge is to get such people motivated, by involving them asking them for suggestions, giving them responsibilities and make them reliazie the beauty . There are some who volunteer themselves by giving money.  But the concept here is unless untill you follow up second and third sector you will not be able to push the group because for many Social Service is last priority. But, if you are clear in what you want to achive there are always followers for you. Look inside when tumbling down, its because you dont have confidence in it, and hence the group doesnot.  Believe strongly, belive in every goal that you set, belive  and give a sincere effort and you will be rechieng it..
Keys things that happened duing during those times
  • Expanded the group to 45
  • Started Technical Society Vikarabad
  • Formed the Leadership Team both for BSBC and TS
  • Defined a proven methods of handling the 10th and Engineering students - like bi monthly projects for TS and a monthly project for the School children
  • Quarterly News Letter
Now that we have proven methods and have great shoulders to share, its high time for BSBC with new LT Team , Proven processes and solid Financial model of contributing 1 % to Nation. This year there are several new initiatives being taken up.. I will keep my continued efforts and will strive to give my best to the idealogy that will live for ever ...
My personal invitation to everyone with such objectives to join the group .

Counsel

This is very much of a personal message that I write to thyself. I think everyone should have their counsel and I have my chosen counsel in my mind I have never ever revealed it , you find your name please go ahead and read, if you feel you need to make your counsel , I am none to stop you when I have put the content on the internet.

By having somebody whom you can express yourselves in and out 70% of your problem is solved as most of the time we find it difficult to share our sorrow, one because you have to start afresh as the person whom you want to express doesn’t have a clue about it, secondly even if you express your joy or sorrow he may not be in a position to help you out as he doesn’t know how the situation would respond to you as he is not aware of the past. I don’t know if some management book has this but this funda works out for me… have your counsel ..

Chandu – If I have to give my life this is the Guy, he is my brother. Chandu is two years two months two days younger to me and unless it’s a leap year both our B’days fall on same day of the Week. My life is pretty much influenced by him, weather me taking up Social Service, taking up new initiatives, my decision to write CAT, the way I talk appear, the way I talk many many things . We used to fight a lot, he has a small piece of broken teeth as a token J , may be that is the reason we know each other strengths pretty well, let it be intellectual or physical. People say great minds think alike, and both of us think similar, act similar and look similar, that’s the best part of us. When everything in Life ends you should have a shoulder to cry on, I have his. What else could you expect God to give you, more than such a brother. He is my counsel for finance, family, and social life.

Raghu – Great people will leave their mark soon, Raghu is one such person, its intuitive that we were called as inseparable twins by Anupama Mam Our Unix guide, and that’s true let it be our roll numbers ( 01 & 02) or let it be we staying in same room , or let it be placements, tough both of us have written so many tests we got in CA ( same company) and most importantly none other than we both were put in the same team . Whatever weather it’s good or bad he is always there for me. We go together for very long Chai meet ever since good olden University days where we talk about every individual who is making a difference to our lives weather good or bad for each of us, this continues even today. I am sure even we are not in same company we will continue it, as the saying goes “ When there is a Will, there is a Way” . Raghu is a believer, he fights and that’s what I like most in him. He is special to me that ‘s why , I make my Career decisions in consultation with him.

Vijju & Siru – They are there on my every birthday even if it is University, Vikarabad anywhere from the day I know them. I know how much they like me and I still remember the day when Vijju carried me on his shoulders when I had a broken leg and we have to cross the Railway bridge. These guys along with Chandu are founders of BSBC and may be because of the respect that I own being elder to them , I am given the reins of BSBC when it started with we four. Guys have relentlessly worked hard of whatever has been assigned to them by me, and they fill bsbc hands with work with by finding oppurtunities where we can leave our footprint. They are my counsel for Social Service.

Rajesh - Since Day1 in University to till date we have been together, he is more of techie guy but very shy and normally needs someone else to express his ideas, but he is a tough guy, he holds his ideals very high. I am look at him as my counsel for Technical Expertise.

Puppal – I feel Puppal Harish believes in me than him selves, I am at times critical on him because of his ways but he is my guide when it comes to understanding people and understanding different circumstances in life. He understands me from close quarters, he knows me as what I need and what I speak. Many times people understand me superficially, he doesn’t.

To summarize my counsel - finance, family and society , Chandu. Career – Raghu, Vijju and Siru – social service, Rajesh – Technical aspects, Puppal – disaster.
Depending on the day I have my great friends Balraj and Satish who guide me on as a whole . Ajay Bhai who is preparing for Civils and Sreenadh who works for LokSatta are my Political Gurus. I look for Venu , when I need to setup Business ( Venu is an MBA from Osmania and we worked together for Guruji and I know the value that he adds ). There is a void in filling my intellectual space, even tough to an extent I have impressions from Satya Sai Seva Samithi , I feel it’s not complete. I am trying to realize it on my own but I think I need one.

Movies and Me

Movies - You feel good about a movie when you yourselves try to see to the role and things which you have thought of achieving and have not achieved it or still in pursuit of doing it, you feel good as you see them as achieved or to mangers term exceeded expectations in movie because reality in life is a still a distance dream, I feel that’s the reason why we watch several love stories even knowing the fact that it cannot be real, we want things which we could not do to be done. I am no exception… . Some special movies that I like are

Leader –
“ye shakuni aadani joodam bratuke o chadarangamm..idi aarani raavanakashtam chiti lone seemanthamidi manchiki madhyana silpam..ika aagani samaram lo..e neram ika dhooram ..idi maataram..Vandemaataram...vandemaataram....vandemaataram...vandemaataram”
This is movie close to my heart and would have watched it several times, this reminds me that when you are true to your heart and try to do without any prejudice there is always success waiting for you. The way in which Arjun gets reelected as CM, shows that sheer commitment and single point agenda of doing good, I talked a lot with my friends about politics and there may be a day when I think politics should be considered seriously especially to make a difference to the society. I am counting on it..
Lord of the Rings –
A scene in a movie that inspires me and I think of it when it is a big day is from Lord of Rings the Return of the King when Riders of Rohan join the battle. King Theoden takes his army to fight when he sees an army that is thrice as large as his own the words that are spoken
Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered a sword-day, a red day ere the sun rises!
Whatever happens, stay with me. I'll look after you.
Ride now!Ride now!Ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending!Death!Death!-Death! -Death!-Death! -Death!-Death! -Death!Forth Eorlingas!
Tough the Theoden dies his daughter Eowyn wins the battle.

I like Nuvvu Naku Nachavu, 3 Idiots , Athadu for Mahesh babu, by the way I like Mahesh Babu I had met him once before I joined HCU and it was accidental that I along with Thousif, Ravikanth and Nagaraj came to apply for UoH, we went to gachibowli stadium, he came to for a shot there and people who watched Ahadu will know the shooting scene from where he jumps to the railway station, it was when we four met him, we asked for autograph, and Mahesh was written in a piece of paper. I had it with me for several months I can’t find it anymore now .

Cric and Me

I consider myselves to be an allrounder. Batting was what I considered my primary strenght was but some people think other way around. I come 2 down most of the times to bat and depending on what I need to bowl, I can open up the bowling with pace or bowl offies in the middle of the innings.

Well I used to play cricket without any learning, I have never ever given thaught of what kind of shots needs to be played for what kind of balls, till the day we organised a districtlevel cricket tournament, I had an oppurtunity to do umpiring and in close quarters see how good batsman make runs, but a trigger came when Chandu was hitting in the gaps and Idris was talking with Vijju that he is putting the balls in gaps and is an excellent player. It sounds odd that I have played and watched Cric for more than 10 years without basic knowledge of where the fielder is and what kind of shot should be played and most importantly everybody knows it ;).

Best Innings --
65 odd runs against Agami - Agami solutions is a networking company which has MoM with our department, their director teaches Networks to my juniors, who intiated a match between Agami and M.Techs. They are decent team, with some of my seniors who got rectruited in Agami coming to play against us, one of them is M.Techs strike bowler Ravi. We won the toss and choose to bat, Pramodh, Bakshi and a one down batsman got out by the time and it was 5 / 3 in our 4th over when I got to bat. I take my bat at 2 down. When I came in keeper was saying we were thinking that we will loose so easily but it looks like we are far better than you. I can remember till date that the first ball I played was a cover drive for 2, they changed the field and now had an off side field. This was good for me as I make most of my runs on Leg side. From then on every over I was hiting atleast 1-2 fours, meanwhile Satish got out, we were somewhere 26/4, when Amar joined the party, after that we never loosed a wicket and got 105 runs in 16 overs, the stratergy was Amar was to hold on and give back strike to me while I had to go for runs. It was a competetive total, I was exhausted after that my face became red I did not run so much ever for the runs, I sat back for 2 overs during their innings, the director himself was the opener, the openers were making merry, it was 64 /0 for 8 overs, things needs to happen now. I took the bowling, depending on the need I can bowl off spin, or medium pace. I choose to bowl spin as medium pace was not woking out, the same over got both the openers out and it was 65/2 in 9. And after that there was no batting left, we got them allout to 85 odd runs. We emerged winners. I made my mark with 65 runs and 3 wickets.

Quotes I like

“Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”
--MK Gandhi

‘‘... there is nothing more difficult to carry out, nor more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to handle, than to initiate a new order of things. For the reformer makes enemies of all those who profit by the old order, and only lukewarm defenders in all those who would profit by the new order...’’

— Nicollo Machiavelli (‘‘The Prince’’ §vi)

” If everyone is happy with you, then Surely You might have made many compromises in your life ”
